Do you experience these symptoms alongside your dizziness?

Lack of sleep, poor diet, and an illness such as a COVID-19 or head cold can all cause dizziness.
It can also be brought on by something as simple as abruptly rising from a long period of lying or sitting due to changes in blood pressure.
The following symptoms may accompany dizziness:
- Loss of balance
- Feeling faint
- Tunnel vision
- Light-headedness or heavy-headedness
The most effective way to determine what is causing your dizziness is to see a physiotherapist. This will help you rule out any underlying conditions or factors.
Watch out for these vertigo symptoms
The most common cause of vertigo is an imbalance in the inner ear, the Vestibular System, which contributes significantly to maintaining balance and equilibrium. Your vestibular system assists you in maintaining your balance and center of gravity by sending signals about your movement to your brain. The impulses required to keep you balanced are either mixed up or not delivered to your brain if this system is damaged or malfunctioning.
Vertigo is a natural reaction that occurs when the equilibrium of your body is disrupted. This is difficult to deal with because it can make you feel nauseous and disrupt your way of life. Vertigo causes you to feel as if you are rocking or spinning even when you are stationary.
Look out for the following symptoms:
- Nausea and vomiting
- Double vision
- Sweating
- Abnormal eye movements
- Arm and leg weakness
- Difficulty with vision and speaking
- Unable to concentrate or stay alert

What is the cause of my dizziness and vertigo?
Vertigo and balance issues can be caused by a number of factors, including:
Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV)
BPPV frequently causes dizziness. It happens when tiny calcium crystals in your ears become dislodged and float about in the fluid of the semicircular canals of the inner ear. This can cause vertigo and inner-ear discomfort, particularly when changing positions such as lying down or sitting up.
Meniere’s disease
This disease develops when fluid builds up in your ear(s). This is distinguished by ear ringing and brief episodes of extreme dizziness that can last for hours. There is also a chance of temporary hearing loss.
Stroke
A stroke has an impact on how the entire body moves. If you have recently had a stroke, you may experience waves of vertigo.
Vestibular neuritis
This is an inner ear infection affecting the nerve that causes vertigo.
Migraines
By affecting the vestibular system, a migraine can cause vertigo and sometimes light or sound sensitivity. Your vision may deteriorate as well.
Do any of these symptoms or conditions ring a bell? If this is the case, you most likely have a balance problem. For dizziness and vertigo relief, visit one of our Vancouver licensed physiotherapists at Physio For Life!
